After exploring the Castle, walk through the woods and up to the lakes.  According to season, you will see drifts of snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells and an astonishing display of rhododendrons.  Also, try to find the walk which returns from the lake on the far side of the dell, along the burn and through interesting woodlands.

 

Deer, Red squirrels and badgers are there in the woods to see if you are lucky (and keep quiet!).  There are also foxes and rabbits along with the whole panoply of a bird and plant life, all undisturbed by insecticides and poisons.
